North East Food & Cocktails

I have eaten out quite a bit recently and I decided to pick my favourite places I have been in the past month and write a post about it. Eating out is one of my favourite things to do, and going for cocktails is a close second. I definitely want to feature a lot more foodie posts on my blog as who doesn't love going to lovely restaurants and finding new places to eat?

Obviously I have been to Jamie's Italian in Newcastle in the past month. If you read my blog or follow my instagram (@georgiamayheads), you will know that I go here for a shopping break quite a lot. Having a Gold Card for Jamie's makes it even more enjoyable as every month there is a new treat, sometimes it is a free glass of wine for everyone on your table, sometimes it is a free starter, however this time I went we got £10 off our bill which gives you even more reason to pig out and enjoy it! I can't fault the food here and the service is excellent. This time I went for a chicken and feta caesar salad and it was HUGE. Probably defeated the object of having a salad as it was so big. The cocktails here are also amazing, and even better during the week as they are £5!

As it was sunny one afternoon I had a walk down the quayside and stopped for a drink at Pitcher and Piano. You can't beat it's location as it is right on the quayside with a great view. 

Quay Ingredient is also down by the quayside in Newcastle and it is a great little place to go for breakfast. It has a lovely atmosphere as the staff are so friendly. The food is reasonably priced and is just what you need if you have been out the night before!

I had lunch at Fuego in Fenwicks food hall with my Mam the other week and we had lots of lovely tapas. The tomato and mozzarella salad was to die for, it was so refreshing! We also got patatas bravas, calamari, mussels and a shrimp which was on the specials. The food was all amazing, however the shrimp was a little disappointing as it was £10 and it was only 1 mouth full once you took it out of its shell! That was the most expensive mouth full I have probably ever had!

Another favourite place of mine is Bill's restaurant in Durham. I love the chicken and bacon caesar salad here, I get it every time I go! I really like the decoration inside and the staff are lovely. I also got a peach and mint iced tea which I am going to have to try to make at home as it was so nice!

After a delicious meal at Bill's we went to the Boathouse for what was meant to be 1 drink but it ended up in quite a few cocktails! After 5pm it is happy hour, so how can you resist when the cocktails are 2 for 1? My favourite's are Absolut Passion, Spiced Mojito and Jammydoger. I love the Boathouse as you can sit on the balcony overlooking the river, which is lovely when the sun is out!
