Charlotte Tilbury & Fenwicks Newcastle

26 October 2015

Charlotte Tilbury has recently opened a new stand in Fenwicks Newcastle so last weekend I gave it a visit. I picked up the Very Victoria matte revolution lipstick and Iconic Nude lip cheat.

The lip pencil is incredible, it goes on so easily and stays put all day. The colour is very much like your own lips but better. It is so rich and glides on your lips so nicely. It is so easy to draw a smooth line as it does not drag along your lips as it is so velvety. Creating the illusion of bigger lips seems to be what everyone is doing at the moment and if you are one of these people then the CT lip pencils are definitely the way to do it. They are designed specifically for reshaping and resizing lips. To do this I simply draw on the lip pencil slightly outside of my natural lip shape, as I don't really like the classic Kylie Jenner over sized lip. But it works really well and looks natural, while being easy to do.

I have always stuck to buying MAC lipsticks, as they are my favourite because of their shades and the fact that they are so long wearing. It is very rare that I every buy any other lipsticks as they never seem to be as good. However the gorgeous rose gold packaging and the shape of the CT lipsticks persuaded me, even though I nearly died when I found out the price of it. The lipstick itself is so hydrating but also very pigmented while making your lips look fuller. I also love that the taupe shade is inspired by Victoria Beckham. I have a thing for nude/taupe lipsticks at the moment, and this one is one of my favourites that I own.

Now I feel like I need to mention a little bit about my experience in the newly designed beauty department in Fenwicks Newcastle. It looks great, there are new counters such as Laura Mercier and Charlotte Tilbury, while others, like MAC and Bobbi Brown, have been expanded. This means lots of new staff and I am going to guess that this is the reason that I didn't have such a good time. I am in the Fenwicks beauty department so often that I recognize most of the counter staff and know which ones I get the most help from. I got very angry when I was looking for a pigment I needed to pick up in MAC and then one of the staff barged in front of me, pushing me out of the way so she could get to the pigments to take to another client and did not even acknowledge me. My friend and I couldn't believe it, so I was put off from purchasing anything from MAC and walked out. Then I went to the new Charlotte Tilbury counter, which is huge and was incredibly busy. I asked one of the women if I could try two different lip liners on to see which I preferred. Then without giving me a choice or asking me, she wrote my name down and told me to come back in half an hour. Then when I did come back, I got told to take a seat and was left for 20 minutes while they went to find the woman who was meant to be helping me, meanwhile there was a group of 3 of the staff members walking around doing nothing. When the woman finally came, she took 10 minutes to take my current lipstick off, spilt water all over my lap and did not even know the products. Lets just say that she had to ask me what colour Glastonberry was, even though it has a clue in the name. I knew more about the products than she did if I am honest. She did not know where any of the products were and had to leave me several times to go and find different things. I am guessing that this is because it is a new counter with new staff. I am not usually one to complain or get impatient when make up shopping, but I really did not have a good experience in Fenwicks last weekend at all and I hope it is different next time I go.
