My top rated concealers

30 November 2014

I think that my most valued make up product after lipstick has to be concealer. I find that it just makes you look fresh and awake, highlights under your eyes and obviously conceals any redness or blemishes. I have been through a countless amount of concealers in the last few years as I find it extremely hard to find the perfect one. I think I have come pretty close to finding my perfect concealer lately and I am going to share with you some of the ones I have encountered along the way. So here, in order, are my top rated concealers!

5. Erase Paste - Benefit - £14
This is a cream concealer and is designed to brighten under eye areas and camouflage blemishes. It is easy to apply and is a quick fix. You also do not need to use a lot of the product to get a good coverage. However, lets just say that Erase Paste does its job for around half an hour. I find that it is quite a think consistency, this then results in it caking under my eyes and creasing. It also wrinkles and forms lines. I am not a huge fan of this concealer as it is just too thick for my liking. It is not my go to concealer and I don't often use it but it is still in my make up collection for if I need to quickly cover something up.

4. Double wear stay in place flawless wear concealer - Estee Lauder- £21.50
I received this concealer as a free gift when purchasing some other products and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of product you got! To start with, I love the packaging of this concealer as there is also a lip gloss on the other end (you can get it without the lipgloss too). This product never leaves my handbag as it is so compact and easy to quickly whip out and touch up. I also think that all concealers should come with a wand applicator as it is so much easier than using a brush in my opinion. It can then be blended out with a beauty sponge. Now to the concealer its self. This concealer is a liquid and has a great coverage. However it is a little too thick for me and it can look cakey on under eyes at times. But it stays on for the whole day and doesn't shift. Also it does not make spots or blemishes look more obvious, which I think is very important as some concealers just highlight them more.

3. Stay Don't Stray - Benefit - £20.50
This product is not just a concealer but also an eyeshadow primer and I find that it is great for both! It keeps my eyeshadow in place for the whole day and does not crease. I would never apply eyeshadow without priming my lids with Stay Don't Stray first. As this is an eye primer it means that when used as a concealer for under eyes it stays put. It has long lasting coverage and hinds dark circles brilliantly. It is a liquid and it is the perfect consistency. It never looks caked or thick. The only down side to this product is that it is not meant for hiding blemishes so it obviously does not do a great job at that. I know that most people only like to have one concealer and as it is expensive people may not see the point. However, if you are like me and love spending time on your eyeshadow and always love bright under eyes then it is worth a buy.

2. Pro Longwear Concealer - MAC - £17
This was one of my first high end concealers I bought, I think I first tried it out about 2 years ago. I have repurchased this product so many times as I love it! It is a liquid concealer and it quite a thin consistency which does not look obvious or even look like you have anything on! It hides virtually anything, it is best at camouflaging dark under eye circles. This is a product that is always in my make up collection as it has so many uses. It is great at highlighting areas of your face when contouring. The only let down is the packaging. As previously said I prefer a wand applicator for concealers. This concealer has a pump that always pumps out about twice as much as you actually need. So I suggest if you are purchasing this product you should ask for a tester pot (they are free) so you can pump the concealer into the pot and keep it for the next time you use it so you are not wasting any as it is expensive stuff! Thank you MAC for your wonderful concealer.

1. Radient Creamy Concealer - NARS - £22
This is my newest concealer that I have tried and I feel like I have found the one. It is a cream based concealer but I think that it is somewhere in between a cream and a liquid. The consistency is perfect and it gives amazing coverage that is very long wearing. It does not crease or move on the skin. As my skin is oily in some areas I find it hard to make my concealer stay put and not slide around but this one defiantly isn't budging and does not look oily and does not give off a shine. I honestly adore this product and the only bad thing about it is sadly the price and it is only a 6ml bottle. So if you can not bring yourself to spend this amount then I really don't blame you. But at the end of the day I love this concealer and it is my favorite that I have tried so far. Well done NARS!
